In August 2025, National DSA convened DSA’s highest decision-making body, the biannual National Convention. Pittsburgh DSA elected 12 delegates to represent our hundreds of members and joined with delegates across the country in deciding the direction of DSA.
At convention, hundreds of delegates representing tens of thousands of members voted to adopt Resolution 22 (R22), “For a Fighting Anti-Zionist DSA,” a decision that was shaped by the national reckoning of the genocide in Gaza, the duty of socialists to fight imperialism, and a refusal to sacrifice our principles.
R22 provides a framework for Palestine organizing in DSA, which includes expectations and requirements for candidates to be endorsed by any DSA chapter or National DSA. To ensure candidates meet such standards, chapters are asked to include direct questions scrutinizing the candidates positions on Palestine. Any chapter or candidate that fails to do so are not eligible for endorsements and are in direct violation of a national convention mandate.
The DSA National Political Committee (NPC) has stated that DSA-LA has directly violated R22, now we demand that the NPC take the appropriate actions to bring DSA-LA back into compliance with our National Convention. The NPC must carry out all convention mandates and ensure that all chapters comply with R22, for the sake of Palestinians and the hard work of our organizers in important campaigns such as No Appetite for Apartheid.
We have seen candidates only grow in popularity when they stand in solidarity with Palestine and against the zionist entity. The NPC must validate that all chapter endorsement processes align with R22 and conduct a thorough review to ensure compliance with the National Convention. In addition, we ask that the NPC hold all political debates outside of executive sessions, and formally censure DSA-LA for their failure to comply with R22.
We affirm Pittsburgh DSA’s commitment to R22, to the National Convention as DSA’s highest decision making body, to Palestinian liberation, and to anti-Zionism.
In Solidarity,
Pittsburgh DSA
